VILLA LAGONISI

A private residence steps from the Attic coastline in Lagonisi, conceived around a bold tectonic gesture: the entire front façade open radially — beams, frames, and aluminium profiles all following a curved sweep that transforms a structural challenge into the project's defining signature. Beneath a vast water feature that anchors the forecourt, a carved underground volume is carved into the hillside, lit entirely by skylights embedded in the pool floor — daylight filtered through still water, shifting with the sun. The interior rises to double height, animated by a cantilevered steel staircase and dressed floor-to-ceiling in glazing; two tiers of oversized retractable awnings mediate between the Mediterranean sun and the cavernous transparency within, making climate control and light quality a considered architectural act rather than an afterthought. Stone, glass, and a structural audacity — built slowly, deliberately, in a place that deserves it.
